About the role

As Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor, you will provide leadership and technical support for electrical and instrumentation maintenance across the Kalgoorlie Smelter.

Primarily your role will involve daily allocation of tasks, rostering, reporting and general supervision of the team of Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians. Your key relationships include the engineering, planning and project teams as well as the other maintenance teams.

Responsibilities include implementing statutory and company safety requirements. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing maintenance strategies that enable plant safety, reliability and performance to be optimized.

About You

Significant post trade experience in a processing or chemical plant is required. Preferably, the successful applicant will have sound prior experience in a supervisory capacity along with:
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to take a leadership role within a team environment. The ability to delegate effectively, coach and mentor others is a must.
  • Electrical trade skills will include experience working with high voltage & low voltage equipment, VSD speed control, PLC's and process control instruments in addition to strong fault finding skills. More specifically, exposure to Yokogawa DCS systems and Allen Bradley PLCs will be advantageous.
  • Necessary qualifications include an A grade electrical license. A dual qualification in electrical and instrumentation would be highly regarded. Computer literacy is essential and exposure to SAP would be beneficial.
  • The successful applicant will also be required to have the qualifications to become the Electrical Licence Holder
  • Qualifications as a Supervising Gas Fitter or experience in gas fitting work is highly preferred

Nickel West Kalgoorlie  

Kalgoorlie is the largest inland city in Western Australia and due to its central location is positioned at the heart of the Goldfields as a vibrant mining town and a major gateway to the Eastern States. Although fairly isolated, the City of Kalgoorlie/Boulder offers modern shopping facilities, a huge variety of sports, and schooling for all ages up to high school. There are contemporary housing options for all budgets, sporting clubs and leisure complexes of all descriptions. The Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter receives nickel concentrate from our mining operations in Leinster and Mt Keith as well as from our Third Party Feed concentrator in Kambalda. Nickel West Kalgoorlie incorporates a flash furnace smelter, converters and an acid plant which has the capacity to produce up to 110,000 tonnes per annum of nickel matte.   All Kalgoorlie roles are residential, FIFO is not an option.  Nickel West Kalgoorlie is a non-smoking operation.
