Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business. Our culture is rich with technical know-how, highly efficient and focused on innovation. The business employs over 2500 people from five operations across Western Australia comprising of nickel underground and open-cut mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery. This role based at Nickel West Cliffs underground mine, located approximately 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. Employees at Cliffs reside at the Mt Keith village, some of the amenities at your disposal include internet connection, outdoor swimming pool, health and fitness equipment, indoor cricket, basketball court, BBQ areas plus and arrange of social activities.  

Reporting to the Superintendent Mining Production, the Supervisor is expected to model our BHP Charter Values and foster an inclusive, step-up culture within the mining team through leadership, development and people management. With safety being the foremost priority at all times, the success of your team will be achieved through effective core leadership routines, planning and driven by our performance metrics.

The Production Supervisor will also be responsible for:
  • Managing a team of employees including coordination of training, certification, annual leave personnel matters and providing leadership and direction to the team. 
  • Completion of daily reporting requirements and ensuring safety, production and policy compliance. 
  • Management the team to ensure production and safety targets are achieved and mine services are installed and maintained appropriately.  
  • Conduct inspections of work environment to ensure areas are clean, safe and maintained. 

About You

To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:
  • Supervisor experience with the ability to engage, lead change and develop team members
  • WA underground supervisors ticket
  • Proven experience in a leadership role in the underground mining industry
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills
  • Sound time management, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong commitment to maintaining operational disciplines and meeting agreed targets
  • Hold a current manual Australian driver's license
