About You

  • Nickel West Kalgoorlie is seeking a self-motivated Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Specialist to spearhead the roll out of this maintenance function. The primary purpose of this function is to support the continuous efforts in maximizing the smelter asset availability. The role also offers individual to develop further in other condition monitoring techniques e.g. Vibration Analysis.
  • You will be responsible for performing the following activities:
  • Execute routine and non-routine NDT which include UT,PT,MT and prepare reports on findings
  • Record identified defects in the CMMS for further corrective work and escalate urgent/immediate issues to maintenance supervisors
  • Set up and calibration of NDT equipment and maintain records
  • Develop and maintain NDT database
  • Assist with development of work instruction, thickness test maps etc.
  • Assist Reliability Engineers with Condition Monitoring of various equipment 
  • Support asset management team in troubleshooting, investigations and implementation of improvement initiative
  • Coordination with maintenance planner/scheduler and asset teams in prioritizing, scheduling and alignment of NDT and ConMon jobs

Skills and Requirements
  • ISO 9712 / AINDT / BINDT Level II in Ultrasonic, Magnetic particle and Dye Penetrant
  • Minimum of 3 year experience in the field of NDT
  • Vibration analysis level 1 certification is advantageous
  • Current W.A. C class driver’s license, Working at Heights, Confined Space and EWP tickets are beneficial
  • Computer Literacy with Microsoft suite (MS Words, Excel and PowerPoint) and experience with CMMS (such as SAP) will be advantageous
  • As part of the recruitment process for this position you may be required to undergo a pre-employment medical and participate in a background screen including a criminal history check, identity check and qualifications check.

Kalgoorlie is the largest inland city in Western Australia and due to its central location is positioned at the heart of the Goldfields as a vibrant mining town and a major gateway to the Eastern States. Nickel West Kalgoorlie incorporates a flash furnace smelter, converters and an acid plant which has the capacity to produce up to 110,000 tonnes per annum of nickel matte.
