About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Fixed Plant Maintenance A&I, you will be fundamental in providing specialist advice, analysis and benchmarking of the Maintenance function's end-to-end performance in the E & I space. You will identify and implement improvement initiatives that enable functional excellence and support business priorities for continuous improvement across the organisation.


This role is based at Olympic Dam on a 5/2, 4/3 FIFO (ex-Adelaide) or 5/2 residential roster.  BHP will support relocation if required.


In this role you will:
  • Support the continuous improvement of equipment strategies and work instructions used by instrumentation technicians
  • Review and update procedures for the replacement and calibration of instrumentation – including density gauges, flow sensors, pressure sensors, level transmitters, weightometers and pH probes.
  • Work on the standardisation of instruments used across the operation.
  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day.
  • Provide advice on defect elimination processes, and help identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide input in to the training matrix for the Fixed Plant team
  • Build cross-functional relationships with other Analysis & Improvement sub-functions
  • Initiate root cause analysis and “failure type” reviews (e.g.5 Whys, FMECA) where required.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering,
  • Must have experience in commissioning instrumentation infrastructure
  • Problem solving abilities with deep-dive investigation skills
  • Well-developed communication and engagement skills with an interest in providing technical leadership, support, solutions, and governance
  • Attention to detail and finely tuned problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
