About the role

 Asset Systems within BMA provides support for the operations with aligned systems used across all sites. This includes operating procedures, training packages and other systems. In these roles you will have the ability to influence and drive direction in respect to contractor management.  As an integral member of the Asset Systems team, you will be involved in the management of multi-site contracts across BMA, including being the contract owner. This is a permanent position working in the BHP Brisbane office. A core focus of this role will be providing the primary interface between BHP end users, other internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure the contractual terms are met. You will be required to travel to sites when requested.   In this role you will:
  • Take the lead in facilitating meetings with internal and external stakeholders to sponsor deeper relationships with all supply chain partners.
  • Monitor performance of work under contract at both project and portfolio levels in line with contracted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage the documentation and review/ approval process for the execution of variation/ amendment requests for contracts to company guidelines.
  • Escalate contractual issues to relevant stakeholders and coordinate the resolution process including the facilitation and resolution of issues arising from claims, invoicing and rebates.
  • Execute new contracts compliant with the BHP Charter, Code of Conduct, Group Level Documents (GLDs), Functional Level Requirements (FLRs) and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Monitor performance of work under contract for the panel at both project and portfolio levels in line with contracted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and requirements of the SRM Framework, including preparation of official correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Maintain business intelligence of actual spend under contract and forecasted project pipeline for proactive management of the panel, and ongoing project requirements.
  • Organise and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders relevant to fulfil the operational, management and strategic levels of the SRM framework.
  • Manage the documentation and review/ approval process for the execution of variation/ amendment requests for panel contracts to company guidelines, including annual price reviews and maintenance of contractor contact and capability information profiles. 
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all contract documentation and vendor master data in the CMS.
  • Investigate and resolve any issues with PO requisition and 1SAP processes
  • Review and respond to potential new vendors with suitable responses to business development enquiries.
  • Escalate contractual issues to relevant stakeholders and coordinate the resolution process including the facilitation and resolution of issues arising from claims, invoicing and rebates.
  • Key point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding queries on the panel contracts, SRM framework and vendor information.


About You

Ideally, you will hold a tertiary qualification (procurement, engineering, business, law are preferred) or similar with experience within the mineral resources industry. Alternatively you might have two to five years’ experience on the Client side (engineering/technical consultancies or construction) with a demonstrated understanding of project services and the mechanics of a panel of contracts. You will have the opportunity to utilise your exceptional engagement and collaboration skills in managing stakeholder relationships. Likewise, you will have brilliant interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills. You will also possess the following:
  • Significant stakeholder management experience;
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment;
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational management skills;
  • Proficient in the MS Office Suite of products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project;
  • SAP experience and experience in a mature Contract Management System (CMS) is preferred.
