About the role

Reporting to Manager – Asset Systems your previous experience will support you as the subject matter expert in the operational performance management of services contractors. This position will be based in our Brisbane office.

In this role you will:
  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Billiton Charter, the BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Lead a small core team of contractor management professionals to ensure the operational management of key maintenance services contractors, with a primary focus on the safety delivery of maintenance services across the sites.
  • Systemise and document processes for effective contractor management.
  • Support Contract Owner and Supply Representative with the management of operational and commercial issues as required
  • Seek and pursue initiatives related to operational contactor management that unlock value for the business. Validating and valuing these improvement opportunities in order to set targets, prioritise activities and effort toward the company's business plan objectives
  A core focus of this role will be providing value leadership to Minerals Australia through:
  • Developing a working understanding of the contract portfolio including technical knowledge, demand analysis, spend analysis, market dynamics
  • Working to mobilise key contractors and managing the process to identify, select and contract with vendors members
  • Monitoring contractor performance and the health of the company's contracting arrangements
  • Working in cross-functional teams with commercial, maintenance and engineering stakeholders
  • Effective communication of strategies to all levels of internal stakeholders, from senior leadership to frontline operations
  • Facilitating relationship management with maintenance contractors
  • Providing strategic direction related to effective Contract Leadership, including benchmarking internally and externally and providing Continuous Improvement opportunity in this area.

About You

  • Execute sourcing projects (tender preparation including Scope of Works / Services through to contract implementation)
  • Understanding of scoping services contract and allocation of risk between Contractor and Principal
  • Solid understanding of contract terms and conditions and familiarisation with basics of Contract Law.
  • Gather and analyse commercial data from both internal systems and external sources for evaluation of performance.
  • Proven history of leading small teams.
  • Commercial acumen and a sound commercial understanding of maintenance contracting
  • Developing and maintaining customer and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across multiple geographical regions
  • University Degree – preferences are Commerce/Economics; Law; Engineering; Science or some combination thereof, with post Graduate Qualifications (Desirable)
  • At least 3 years exposure to operational contractor management for complex contracts
  • Developing and maintaining internal customer and vendor relationships
