About the role

The Specialist Solution Architect is responsible for ensuring that design is fit for purpose while conforming to the enterprise architecture principles and related standards. Under the direction of the Automation Principal Architect you will participate in the solution development lifecycle, providing expert advice and guidance to the enable automation solution development. 
  • Responsible for the delivery of Solution Architecture services to transform projects within the automation domain
  • Contribute to the development of architectural standards, policies and procedures for automation solution design and development
  • Contribute to the development and management of reference architectures
  • Promote architecture standards and requirements amongst technology and business stakeholders
  • Deliver architecture recommendations based on project requirements and industry best practices, to help solve complex technical problems and ensure fit for purpose solutions are implemented wherever possible
  • Cooperate closely with Equipment Automation, Decision Automation, Control System and Project Management teams to ensure delivery of the automation vision for BHP
  • Monitor adherence to architecture standards and procedures
  • Ensure effective integration of automation architecture with BHP standards
  • Identify and promote opportunities for standardization and reusability of architecture across the automation roadmap for BHP
  • Regularly assess the automation technology landscape and emerging technologies for the impact on the current architecture and opportunities to enhance it

About You

  • Strong effective communicator; with solid interpersonal and analytical decision-making
  • Demonstrable experience in influencing teams and preferably within matrix structures.
  • Demonstrable experience Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid Waterfall project methodologies.
  • Able to convey information to non-technical colleagues in a concise and clear way.
  • A logical approach to problem solving and complexity disaggregation.
  • Tenacity and patience along with high attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong team based approach to work. Offers peer-support and actively participates in sharing of knowledge / skills.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and globally dispersed virtual team environment
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Maths / Science or Information Technology / Business.
    • Architect certification like TOGAF is a plus
