We are seeking diverse and talented 1st year applications for our 2020 Apprenticeship Program across BHP’s Queensland Operations. For commencement in early 2020, we are offering a number of opportunities within the Bowen Basin communities in which we Operate.

About the role

This is an outstanding opportunity for both school leavers and mature aged candidates to develop a dynamic and fulfilling career. The program is delivered to develop cultured, engaged, highly skilled and work ready apprentices to the business, via structured practical and theoretical training competencies.

On completion of your 4 year apprenticeship, you will have earned a trade qualification that is recognised globally.

Nationally Accredited trades Certificates being offered may include:
  • Automotive Electrical (Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology)
  • Diesel Fitting (Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology)
  • Electrical (Certificate III in Electro technology Electrician)
  • Mechanical Fitting (Certificate III Engineering- Mechanical Trade)
  • Boilermaking (Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication Trade- Boiler Making/Welding) 
  • Refrigeration Mechanic (Certificate III in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration)

About You

  • Identify as a 1st year Apprentice in your chosen field. Existing 'Metals' based Trade Qualifications are unable to be considered.
  • Demonstrated interest in your chosen trade through work experience or hobby / interests
  • A high commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail and procedures
  • Motivation to achieve personal work goals and objectives
  • A strong desire to learn and develop a range of new skills associated with your chosen trade
  • A team player with a willingness to actively contribute to achieve results.
  • Hold a current, valid Australian ‘Learners’ Drivers Licence. A full ‘C’ class Manual DVL essential prior to completing apprenticeship.

Perquisites for 2019 Year 12 Leavers:

Prerequisites for Automotive Electrical, Diesel Fitting Mechanical Fitting and Boilermaking trades is a minimum Year 12 pass in prevocational Mathematics and English or equivalent.

Prerequisites for Electrical roles is a minimum Year 12 pass in Maths B or Q Smart Maths and English, or equivalent.
