About the role
We are offering a number of exciting Residential Traineeship opportunities across our WA Iron Ore operations. The program is designed to develop cultured, engaged, highly skilled and work ready trainees, providing you with nationally recognised qualifications upon successful completion.
You will be provided with industry-leading training and mentoring by some of BHP's talented workforce. You will also experience first-rate working conditions with a focus on safety, quality and teamwork. Our Traineeship will be located at our Newman, Mt Whaleback and Eastern Ridge mine site within the Mining Production department on an even time lifestyle roster, including day and night shift.
In 2020, we will be offering the following Newman Residential Traineeships:

You will be provided with industry-leading training and mentoring by some of BHP's talented workforce. You will also experience first-rate working conditions with a focus on safety, quality and teamwork. Our Traineeship will be located at our Newman, Mt Whaleback and Eastern Ridge mine site within the Mining Production department on an even time lifestyle roster, including day and night shift.
In 2020, we will be offering the following Newman Residential Traineeships:
- Mining Production Traineeship (Load & Haul Technician) – Certificate II in Surface Extraction
- Mobile Equipment Maintenance Traineeships – Certificate II in Engineering
- Processing Production Traineeships – Certificate II in Resource Processing

About You
Applicants wishing to apply for the BHP Newman Traineeship Program must meet the following criteria;-
- Hold a high commitment to safety systems and procedures
- Essential to hold a current and valid WA "C" class manual drivers licence
- All residential applications must be residents of that region. No relocation or accommodation provided opportunities available
- Industry experience is not required, but it is essential that you are passionate to work in the mining industry and willing to learn
- Enthusiasm to learn and motivation to succeed
- Honest and reliable
