About the role

As the Category Management Principal, you will report to Manager Production Technology and business partner with the Technology team supporting the business’s Supply needs and ensure they are strategically matched with the market.   You will also play a key role in leading initiatives to improve category management and cross-functional engagements, along with supporting the development of robust category strategies and optimal cost of ownership programs.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing guidance on category management risks and relevant mitigating actions;
  • Coordinating market intelligence and analysis to build robust category and sourcing strategies;
  • Guiding the development of sourcing opportunities that drive effective utilization of the supply base to maintain a competitive advantage;
  • Reviewing category strategies to ensure cost effectiveness, optimal contract portfolio and process automation;
  • Monitoring sourcing projects and ensuring on-time delivery;
  • Validating the application of procedures for issuing and evaluating tenders;
  • Reviewing contract award recommendations and contracts for approval;
  • Supporting cost optimization through identifying, developing and monitoring cost savings opportunity;
  • Monitoring the portfolio of suppliers supporting the business ensuring optimal usage;
  • Validating the management, development and recognition of suppliers is in line with approved guidelines; and
  • Supporting resolution of supplier performance issues and escalations.

About You

As a highly motivated, capable and competent procurement professional, you will possess a strong commercial background and ideally have experience within Technology or a strong interest in this area.  You will need to be a strategic thinker who is able to quickly navigate and understand complex issues to produce effective business outcomes.  Your relationship, negotiation and influencing building skills will be key strengths and as a leader, you positively influence the team culture and enjoy mentoring team members.  A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred.

In this role, you can be based in either Brisbane or Perth.
