Reporting to the Superintendent Electrical Engineering, your responsibilities will include guidance and direction of internal and external resources operating on site.  In addition, you will assist maintenance execution teams with resolving equipment breakdowns as required.  Please note some of your responsibilities will require exposure in the Underground mining environments at Leinster operations. You will play a leading role in ensuring the consistent application of current electrical/control systems standards & procedures, strategies and Control System practices on site.The success of the Nickel West Leinster operation is closely linked to the effective application of capital, preventative maintenance, uptime analysis and cost.  To support this, your objective will be to analyse and improve the mechanical reliability of the fixed assets in the combined Underground and Surface plants at the Leinster operations. Conduct asset reliability improvements in a cost-effective manner by monitoring equipment performance, optimizing equipment maintenance strategies, and verifying effectiveness of maintenance plans using SAP, conducting technical investigations, and researching and initiating improvement projects. Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.  The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate.  The Leinster Village and Township offer a unique lifestyle with all the modern conveniences – an Olympic size swimming pool, health and fitness centre, race-course and even an 18 hole golf course.  As part of our commitment to health and safety Nickel West Leinster.Residential or FIFO 5/2/4/3/9/5 or 7/7 rosters are available.

About You

Attitude is everything in this role and your passion for safety, continuous improvement and team work will see you to success as you hone and develop your skills and experience in this busy and value adding role. Your strong communication skills will enable you to build effective working relationships and will shine during your facilitation responsibilities. You may have some or all of the following;
  • An understanding of distributed control system and control system network architecture and
  • Experience with PLC programming (GE Fanuc preferred) using Function block and Ladder Logic
  • Relevant experience and a  high degree of competence with SCADA and Industrial Control System design, development, deployment, transition and support incl. Citect, Yokogawa Centum DCS and Telemetry Systems
  • Key attributes that will contribute to your success also include sound analytical and problem solving skills and technical report writing ability, and you will be supported by a high level of computer literacy.
