About BHP

Join our new South Flank expansion

The South Flank Project is an expansion of BHP's existing Mining Area C hub, located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman. This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore.
Embracing inclusion and diversity to create a vibrant culture that represents the communities in which we live, South Flank is focused on high performance, flexible work arrangements, strong Indigenous participation and gender balance.
This is a rare opportunity for a dynamic individual to be part of something big – to work in an innovative team, with evolving technology, and playing a pivotal role in creating a world class mine.

About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Controlled Document Technical Writer is to support the identification and scope of production and maintenance initiative to improve safety, availability and cost management of Mobile Equipment Maintenance.

You will refine draft PMI (Preventative Maintenance Instruction) and SWI (Safe Work Instruction) documents into final products and ensure that they are available to the team, whilst also advising their availability to link through to relevant maintenance plans. You will work very closely with key site personnel to ensure optimised maintenance strategies, to eliminate potential losses.

About You

To be our preferred candidate, you have previous demonstrable experience with controlled document management and technical writing, ideally in a fixed plant or mobile equipment maintenance area, as well as a knowledge of operational processes and systems.

You will have the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and use your influencing skills when required. Knowledge of SAP and work management Master Data standards is desirable, but not necessary.

  What we offer you

Working on our new South Flank operation, we will provide you an environment where health and wellbeing are seen as a pre-requisite for safety and production. People are empowered, collaboration enabled and teams are connected to the strategy and plan. Our workforce is flexible, inclusive and diverse.

This role is based in our Perth office on a 5:2 – 5 days on, 2 days off roster, with occasional site travel. Please also note this is a 12 month fixed term role, and those in pursuit of flexible work arrangements are encouraged to apply.

Supporting a diverse workforce

At BHP, we recognise that we are strengthened by diversity. We are committed to providing a work environment in which everyone is included, treated fairly and with respect. We are an Equal Opportunity employer and we encourage applications from women and Indigenous people.
We know there are many aspects of our employees’ lives that are important, and work is only one of these, so we offer benefits to enable your work to fit with your life. These benefits include flexible working options; a generous paid parental leave policy; other extended leave entitlements and parent rooms.
