About the role

Reporting directly to the Superintendent Production Execution – Hydromet and Solvent Extraction (HydroSX), the purpose of this role is to coordinate activities based on production and maintenance planning schedules, as well as provide technical support and ensure shift transitions run smoothly.

You will assist with and resolve technical issues and support investigation of production issues, subsequently identifying and proposing solutions. You will also be directly involved with material and safety risk work, as well as shutdown execution and ensuring work is performed to a high standard.

While there are no direct reports in this position, the Coordinator will step-up into the Superintendent role when required, so it is essential you are able to lead a team and actively engage with a range of stakeholders and departments.

In this role you will:
  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching the team.
  • Ensure continuity of production through your ability to prioritise safety first, understand and manage risk, and follow a plan to achieve the vision
  • Integrate with maintenance counterparts to ensure effective, pro-actively planned maintenance
  • Troubleshoot production issues and create response plans
  • Coach production teams with an agenda to improve operational discipline and process safety within the HydroSX area
  • Support the Superintendent in a range of safety, performance and quality initiatives

About You

  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
  • Communication skills that promote effective stakeholder relationships across departments
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with inherent safety leadership embedded in day to day activities
  • Experience within similar minerals processing operations preferred, but not essential
  • Understanding of process control systems as well as process safety
  • Experience in continuous improvement projects.

Supporting a diverse workforce

At BHP, we recognise that we are strengthened by diversity. We are committed to providing a work environment in which everyone is included, treated fairly and with respect. We are an Equal Opportunity employer and we encourage applications from women and Indigenous people.

We know there are many aspects of our employees’ lives that are important, and work is only one of these, so we offer benefits to enable your work to fit with your life.  These benefits include flexible working options, a generous paid parental leave policy, other extended leave entitlements and parent rooms.

The safety of BHP’s people and our candidates is our number one priority. Due to the unfolding circumstances of COVID-19 and the Government regulations in place to deal with the pandemic, your working location and/or roster as advertised in this advert may be temporarily subject to change whilst the government regulations are in place. This is to ensure the health safety of our workforce, and to implement effective social distancing measures. These changes if applicable will be discussed at screening and interview stage. To protect the health and safety of vulnerable persons in line with current Government advice, you may be asked to undergo a COVID-19 related health assessment.
