About the role

Reporting to the Lead Risk - Credit Risk, you will be responsible for providing credit risk assessment and advisory activities to the commercial teams.

  • Originate and implement credit risk optimization initiatives and standardization of credit risk processes across the commercial teams.
  • Work with the commercial teams to maintain and continuously improve credit risk optimization capabilities.
  • Work closely with the commercial teams on new business initiatives -- helping to shape how such strategy is implemented, with a strong focus on ensuring the overlay of a sound credit risk management infrastructure.
  • Rigorous communication with commercial, finance and group functions to ensure appropriate documentation, limits and risk mitigation to protect against a counterpart default and minimize potential losses.
  • Engages with commercial, finance and group functions, service providers, customers and other external stakeholders to gather relevant information and to facilitate effective execution of credit risk management activities.
  • Conduct credit assessments on counterparties and make considered recommendations as per the credit delegation matrix.
  • Monitor and analyses impactful information on customers, industries and countries.
  • Maintain credit limits, terms and related data within the credit system in an accurate and timely fashion – and monitor ongoing compliance therewith, escalating any concerns.
  • Identify and escalate breaches of limits, and provide support in resolution of key findings.
  • Support trade finance requirements and updates trade finance related documentation as required.
  • Support the commercial and leadership teams in providing analysis and advice with regard to credit risk matters.
  • Support the credit risk lead and leadership team in projects as required.

About You

  • Experience in the commodities industry with credit risk management.
  • Good communicator, both verbally & written, with the ability to articulate risk exposures, financial analysis and complex scenarios using simple terms for non-technical audience, to influence positive business outcomes, while highlighting the key economic effects.
  • Able to sift through business data/information to identify salient insights.
  • Able to handle deviations and exceptions and knows when to escalate any significant control breakdowns.
  • Highly analytical with keen ability to build scenario models in MS Excel.
  • Experience in using SAP highly desirable.
