About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Draglines, the Supervisor Dragline will lead a team of experienced dragline operators, overseeing the day to day operations of the team and ensuring safe and efficient dragline operations.This position is located at BMA Goonyella Riverside mine. Goonyella Riverside Mine is a large open cut coking coal mine in the Bowen Basin, located 30km north of Moranbah. This position is offered on a lifestyle roster with rotating day and night shifts. 

In this role you will:
  • Be responsible for ensuring the mine operations' and shift objectives are met in a safe, economical and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Be responsible for the oversight and direct line management of the dragline operations team providing support and direction to the team and managing the delegation of work across the team. Identify and support team member’s opportunity for development, including identifying training requirements and arranging appropriate training as required. 
  • Carry out regular inspections of mine workings to identify and correct hazards and unsafe work practices. Evaluate digging methods, operator techniques and overall machine productivity. 
  • Ensure a continuous improvement approach to operations and process, lead the implementation of identified operational improvements.

About You

  • Ability to apply a continuous improvement approach, experience with implementation of new or improved operational processes is desired. 
  • Experience operating a dragline excavator or alternatively managing a team of dragline operators is advantageous. 
  • Experience working in the coal industry preferred but not essential.  
  • Competencies in S1, S2, S3 essential, G2 is desired but not essential. 
  • Experience managing a team with excellent leadership skills with the ability to encourage, support and lead a large team. 
  • High communication skills, ability to communicate effectively across various levels.
