About the role

Reporting to the Electrical\Instrument Supervisor, as an E&I Technician you will be responsible for performing Maintenance activities for weekly and long term maintenance of the Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter as well as providing planning input to ensure the safe achievement of department objectives.
  • Kalgoorlie residential only role;
  • Family friendly roster 5 & 2 (Monday - Friday);
  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day;
  • Assist with any planned electrical maintenance and complete tasks in a timely manner;
  • Provide electrical trade skills to perform unplanned or breakdown maintenance across all Process Areas of the Smelter;
  • Work with your team to a high level of accountability and be able to build strong team relationships;
  • Provide Feedback to the Electrical\Instrument Supervisor on job progress.

Location

Kalgoorlie is the largest inland city in Western Australia and due to its central location is positioned at the heart of the Goldfields as a vibrant mining town and a major gateway to the Eastern States. Although fairly isolated, the City of Kalgoorlie/Boulder offers modern shopping facilities, a huge variety of sports, and schooling for all ages up to high school. There are contemporary housing options for all budgets, sporting clubs and leisure complexes of all descriptions.

The Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter receives nickel concentrate from our mining operations in Leinster and Mt Keith as well as from our Third Party Feed concentrator in Kambalda. Nickel West Kalgoorlie incorporates a flash furnace smelter, converters and an acid plant which has the capacity to produce up to 110,000 tonnes per annum of nickel matte.

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following: 
  • Electrical Trade Qualification (essential);
  • Current LV Switchboard rescue and resuscitation;
  • Instrumentation qualifications (highly regarded);
  • Working experience with PLC and Citect systems;
  • Experience with High Voltage Switching and Access;
  • Time management skills and be able to prioritise workload;
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment and work individually
  • Experience in Maintenance, fixed plant or heavy industry
  • Experience with SAP or similar maintenance planning software
  • Ability to communicate well across multiple levels and disciplines.

Due to COVID-19 and corresponding border closures across Australia, you ideally must be located in Western Australia or be prepared to move to Western Australia for this opportunity.  Further information will be provided throughout the recruitment process.
