About the role

BHP is currently on the look-out for a talented and capable Security and Emergency Management Supervisor to join the Health, Safety and Environment - Business Partnering team at our Mt Arthur Coal mine site. The role is residential based in the beautiful NSW Hunter Valley.

As a Security and Emergency Management Supervisor, you will be working in a dynamic and demanding environment, which will come with its own unique challenges.

Reporting to the Site Superintendent HSE, Business Partnering, this is an exciting time to join the team to facilitate great Security and Emergency Management outcomes through your leadership, coaching, direction and expert advice. This role will be based at Mt Arthur Coal operations focused on passionately leading a team of security and emergency personnel. This is permanent role, based on a 4:5:5 roster day shift unless otherwise required

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver excellent Security and Emergency Management service and continuous improvement in the delivery of emergency response capability through interfacing with colleagues and customers across the site and throughout HSE so that risks with Security and Emergency impacts are effectively managed.

In this role you will:
  • Directly lead and set the strategic direction for a team of Security and Emergency Services professionals, and a growing contingent of volunteer Emergency Response Team personnel;
  • Resource and maintain an effective emergency response capability for site, aligned with the Emergency Management Plan and Emergency Response control design;
  • Assuming the role of Emergency Services Officer to ensure personnel coverage and On Scene Commander where required;
  • Ensuring operating discipline with regard to clinical treatment guidelines, drug management, routine inspection and maintenance of critical emergency response equipment;
  • Building capability in line leaders through governance and oversight of the site Incident Management Team (IMT); and
  • Liaising with the site Leadership Team to develop training scenarios to verify capability against the site risk profile.


About You

This role will suit a highly capable team player who is motivated to collaborate with site and HSE teams to ensure that everyone goes home safe every day to do the things they love.

A Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue is required. Holding a  Certificate Trainer & Assessor certificate would be beneficial however not essential. Ideally you have experience in health care and/or comprehensive technical understanding of risk management in a similar environment.
