About the role

As an Engineer-Mining Strategic Planning and reporting to the Superintendent Strategy, you will be responsible for:
  • The Life of Asset Mine Planning and Strategic Design processes assessing and defining value of BHP’s coal Assets ensuring safety, health and environmental impacts are considered and not compromised.
  • Supporting Opportunity Assessment and Projects through mine planning to assess and promote the next value options for the BHP Coal’s portfolio.
  • Leading engagement with Senior Management to achieve value growth for the portfolio.
  • Engaging with the array of functions within the organisations to ensure strategic planning within the corporate alignment process guides the business to delivery of targeted value outcomes.
  • JORC and SEC Reporting of Asset Reserves.
  • Supporting the BHP business in transformation including establishing strategic processes for BHP Operating Systems (BOS), Value Chain Automation (VCA) and Work Class Functions (WCF).
  • Continuously seeking to challenge and improve BHP Mine Planning.

About You

You will have a  Bachelor of Engineering Degree with demonstrable experience in a mid and long term mine design and scheduling for open cut coal mines.  It is desirable to be a competent user in Deswik, Spry, Xeras & Excel. Blasor (BHP Mine Optimisation program) experience will be highly regarded.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, which will allow you to build relationships across functions and to communicate at all levels. You will be capable of problem solving and working independently.
