About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Mods and Ops, this role plans and controls the sourcing and procurement of capital purchases and project requirements in line with capital budget, and ensures they are matched with the market conditions and business requirements.This role is responsible for initiating project contracts and sourcing strategic solutions for Engineering Projects. You will lead a strategic sourcing and scheduling for 2 year budget through to negotiation and execution of supplier contracts and also lead initiatives improving project management and cross functional engagements and alignment.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Responsible for the overarching procurement and Project Management strategy of the site Engineering Department, including the review of supplier performance, relationships and trading terms;
  • Provide up to date capital and operating spend analysis and improvement recommendations to leadership;
  • Identify and minimize potential commercial risk in line with capital budget;
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure capital forecasting is available and reviewed to drive the best outcome;
  • Challenge and coach a high performing team through KPI/objective setting and development;
  • Ensure that contracts for materials, services and overhauls are negotiated, managed and delivered to meet the requirements of the organisation, including accuracy, quality and time;
  • Provide input into the site 5 year capital plan and the development of the 2 year capital and operational budget for the site, and ensure all works are executed according to the plan;
  • Lead feasibility studies, cost-benefits analyses, impact assessments and project business cases as required to obtain the required project approvals; and
  • Monitors understanding and application of Project Management processes within the team to support compliance with Site requirements and GLDs.

To be successful in this role you will be an effective leader and a collaborative communicator with the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, allowing you to influence while also enabling you to build relationships across departments and to communicate with disciplines at all levels.

You will need to be tertiary qualified in Procurement and Project Management or have equivalent trade and industry experience to support the technical support requirements of the role. Results will be achieved through strong people management and long term development of individuals in your team Mining industry and any SAP experience will be an advantage. 
  • Proven ability to influence across functions;
  • Sound understanding of Mining and/or Oil & Gas industry;
  • Ability to analyze complex business processes, risk factors and control systems;
  • Experience with ERP systems;
  • Extensive procurement expertise, having operated at  a strategic level;
  • Experience in strategic sourcing leading the development, negotiation and execution of high value contracts;
  • Experience in implementing best practice contract and supplier management;
  • Detailed knowledge of procurement legislation, supplier and contract management; and
  • A strong knowledge of Project Management principles and engineering process.
