About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Reliability, you will be involved in supporting the site maintenance function to achieve maintenance and process safety excellence. We are seeking an Engineer with a driving commitment to safe work practices with a proactive approach to improving equipment safety reliability used for the processing of ore into Copper, Uranium, Silver and Gold.

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, and can be offered on a 5/2 residential, or 5/2,4/3 FIFO from Adelaide roster arrangement.

In this role you will:
  • Engage in daily safety leadership activities and discussions to promote safe systems of work within the Smelter.
  • Assist Maintenance and Production teams with troubleshooting and problem solving of boiler and steam systems
  • Review current reliability of boiler and steam systems and where required determine a remediation strategy
  • Review preventative maintenance strategies for critical boiler and steam systems
  • Review and identify improvement opportunities regarding boiler and steam systems
  • Participate in investigations and root cause analyses in significant events/failures related to boiler and steam systems
  • Participate in the Risk and Control Management process for Surface Operations

About You

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or relevant trade experience, ideally with expertise in Boilers
  • Experienced with standards relevant to boiler and steam systems (ASME, API and AS)
  • Boiler and steam system plant engineering experience in modifications, management of change and preventative maintenance
  • Display ability to work autonomously in the development and governance of inspection and reliability scopes of work
  • Familiar with non-destructive testing and condition monitoring techniques
  • A focus on risk based and fit for purpose solutions and improvements is expected Exposure to RCA and defect elimination techniques will be considered advantageous, but not essential
  • Exposure to complex processing plants and facilities
  • Open to new challenges and experiences, combined with proactive and intuitive problem solving skills
  • Highly engaged, collaborative and committed to building mutually beneficial relationships across functional teams
