About the role

BHP has an opportunity for an Engineering Officer to join our onsite Engineering Team at the Caval Ridge Mine.

Reporting to the Manager Engineering this role will be responsible for administering the Contractor Management System on behalf of the engineering team as well as supporting the team with office administration. You will focus on ensuring compliance to the systems and processes while working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best outcome for the business.This opportunity is being offered within the Bowen Basin located near Moranbah, Central Queensland. A Lifestyle roster and flexible travel options are on offer.Responsibilities include: 

  • Support full implementation of Contractor Management Framework and Coal Mining Safety and Health Legislation at Caval Ridge;
  • Support Contract and Vendor owners to achieve compliance with SHMS requirements for Contractor Management;
  • Monitor and report on compliance with on-contract and off-contract requirements;
  • Facilitate pre-mobilisation meetings, regular HSE / Contract Meetings and demobilisation meetings (including agendas and minutes);
  • Monitor and support compliance with monitoring and verification plans including meetings, field leadership activities;
  • Work with Contract / Vendor Owners and Supply Representatives to ensure non-compliances, failure to meet HSE / Performance targets and potential issues relating to contractors, are identified and documented, and provide support to manage as required;
  • Ensure changes in Contract / Vendor Ownership, requests for non-compliance letters / unsafe act notices, potential legal matters and other issues or concerns are escalated to Lead Contract Management
  • Ensure contractors and sub-contractors understand and comply with reporting requirements
  • Monitor accountable supervision for adequate knowledge of scope of work and risks and controls
  • Support team as required with document control
  • Manage site visitors (passes, PPE, escorting, etc.)
  • Support the team with SAMS – Flight and Accommodation bookings

About You

The role has a strong safety and compliance focus, and will support the Caval Ridge Engineering team with the management of contractors under the BHP Contract Management Framework.To be considered for this opportunity, you will hold relevant training and experience in contractor on-boarding and office administration within a project team. Construction, engineering, and project experience is essential. Tertiary qualifications in business administration are desirable. A strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and SharePoint is needed as well as eye for detail.
