About the role

Reporting to the Shift Maintenance Supervisor, within the Fixed Plant Maintenance Execution team at our Nelson Point Port Operations, your duties will include:
  • Overriding commitment to the BHP Billiton Charter, Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainable Development;
  • Maintain all aspects of Equipment Maintenance including Preventative Maintenance, Fault Finding, Repairs, and Commissioning
  • Collaborate and work effectively with other Maintenance and Production team members, including Contractors, to better understand and manage Equipment Maintenance and resolve problems impacting on all areas
  • Facilitate and complete “Whole of Job Function” tasks, which include, Preparation of JHA’s, Take 5’s and/or Work Instructions.
  • Carry out required Work Management duties and ensure that all Documentation and Data Entry is accurately completed and to a high standard
  • Prioritise efforts to reduce breakdowns and their durations, urgent unplanned events.
  • Accept a high level of ownership of Maintenance activities and equipment performance
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, attention to detail and quality of work
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Programs that result in higher levels of Plant and Equipment performance and availability

Location / Roster: 
In this residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia on a lifestyle roster. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities.

The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife.  Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
  • Electrical WA ‘A’ grade license or equivalent electrical engineering qualification.
  • Minimum of C class Manual Drivers Licence;
  • Experience in an automations, process control environment. 
  • Electrical knowledge & AS3000 Standards.
  • Technical knowledge of PLCs (AB & GE), VVVFs (Siemens), networks, instrumentation, HV/LV motors and Citect systems (Highly regarded)
  • The ability to work methodically and remain calm and focused in a busy and dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills for high level problem solving and sharing of solutions.
  • Working at Heights, HRWL, EWP (desirable)
  • A Current Maritime Security Identification Card or the ability to obtain one.
