About the role

You will be reporting to the Central & Northern Pilbara Water and Source Maintenance Supervisor, within the Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) Central & Northern Pilbara Water and Source operations and maintenance team.

You will be part of a high performing, outcomes focused, diversely skilled team that ensures our potable water infrastructure is operated, maintained and governed to meet ADWG, DoH and BHP management plans and requirements.

Your role as an Engineering Technician Electrical will be responsible for conducting both planned and unplanned maintenance on various water & waste water infrastructure throughout our extensive network in accordance with BHP policies and procedures your duties will include but not limited to:
  • Demonstrating an ongoing commitment and conformance to the BHP Charter Values, BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant all statutory obligations
  • Work in accordance with AS3000, MSIA, MSIR, WAER and all referenced documents to the electrical Australian standards throughout your daily duties
  • Understand and support the reliable operations of the water treatment industry for the safe delivery of ADWG complaint water services
  • Assist the Supervisor Water Infrastructure in identifying and implementing initiatives that contribute value to the business from an NPI Water Services maintenance perspective, ensuring compliance to the Change Management Procedure.
  • Work with your Supervisors and in accordance with the 1SAP work management processes, to ensure maintenance is completed as per the pre-defined plan. Ensure all work is completed and properly recorded via the 1SAP.
  • Ensure accurate completion of documentation including drawings and technical reports as necessary.
  • Complete workplace inspection and make complete corrective actions where required
  • Actively participating on a 24/7 ‘Call out’ basis as needed to ensure a reliable water scheme
  • Assisting team members with mechanical and operations tasks when required

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following: 
  • West Australian ‘A’ Grade Electrical Licence
  • Certificate IV in Instrumentation desirable
  • Minimum of ‘C’ class manual drivers licence
  • Minimum 2 years post trade experience in a similar process driven industry
  • Demonstrated in field experience with some of the following is highly desirable;
  • Potable, non-potable or waste water treatment instrumentation, bore field operations, PLC fault finding, SCADA Control systems, Reverse osmosis systems and chlorine gas dosing systems
  • Strong knowledge in PLC’s and communications
  • SAP Maintenance Management System experience highly regarded
  • Forklift, EWP and Dogging Certificates desirable


You will be based in Mining Area C with NPI Water on a fly-in fly-out 8 days on 6 days off roster, where you will be deployed at our Central & Northern operations. Our FIFO camps have excellent rooms and facilities.
