About the role

We are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Technician Electrical to join our Conveyor Systems Maintenance team in Port Hedland. This is a permanent, residential position based on a 5/2 roster. Reporting to the Supervisor NP Inspection & Equipment, you will be responsible for conducting both planned and unplanned works on the equipment such as belt winders and winches, water pumps, vulcanizer presses and maintain all electrical equipment in the workshop. 

Other duties will include: 
  • Demonstrating an ongoing commitment and conformance to the BHP Charter Values, BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant all statutory obligations
  • Work in accordance with AS3000, MSIA, MSIR, WAER and all referenced documents to the electrical Australian standards throughout your daily duties
  • Assist the Supervisor in identifying and implementing initiatives that contribute value to the business from a Conveyor Systems Maintenance perspective, ensuring compliance to the Change Management Procedure.
  • Work with your Supervisors and in accordance with the 1SAP work management processes, to ensure maintenance is completed as per the pre-defined plan. Ensure all work is completed and properly recorded via the 1SAP.
  • Ensure accurate completion of documentation including drawings and technical reports as necessary.
  • Complete workplace inspection and make complete corrective actions where required
  • Assisting team members with mechanical and operations tasks when required
  • Carrying out all activities within the whole-of-job scope, including pre-work, preparation of JHAs and/or DWPs, organising materials, execution, testing and completion of tasks.
  • Cultivate positive relationships through effective communication, feedback and consultation

Location
In this residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.  The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities. 

The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife.  Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
  • West Australian ‘A’ grade electrical licence
  • Minimum of ‘C’ class manual drivers licence
  • Minimum 2 years post trade experience in a similar process driven industry
  • Demonstrated in field experience with some of the following is highly desirable; 
  • PLC fault finding experience
  • Strong knowledge in PLC’s and communications and PLC trouble shooting experience
  • SAP Maintenance Management System experience highly regarded
  • Forklift, EWP and Dogging Certificates desirable
  • Motivated individual who can work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams is a must
