About the role

This role will support regulatory compliance and closure of Arizona sites in accordance with corporate requirements and Closed Sites closure strategy to mitigate risk to the company. Manage care and maintenance as well as closure-related activities to support the Superintendent Compliance and Engineering.  Oversee site level geotechnical and tailings monitoring programs and related contractors and budget.


In this role you will:
  • Ensure tailings management and environmental requirements are addressed in all phases of planning and project execution.  
  • Support other member of Operations, Projects, and Studies at site.
  • Implementation and quality control assurance of site performance monitoring across all closed sites including identification and alignment of all regulatory, corporate and risk-based requirements.  
  • Support preparation/review of technical documents and reports.  
  • Compliance with all local legislation and regulations, Group Level Documents and local asset procedures including safety, health, environment and community and associated corporate reporting
  • Assist in Development of Site wide operating documents and procedures
  • Assist in developing operating budgets for site
  • Assist in Strategic planning for site.
  • Conduct required inspections to keep both environmental and tailings management programs in compliance.
  • Work with Site Environmental to implement new and updated permits.
  • Develop storm water plan updates that include implementation of sampling program.
  • Work with external stakeholders to manage joint and sole ownership water balance issues. Ensure tailings management and environmental requirements are addressed in all phases of planning and project execution. 
  • Compliance with all local legislation and regulations, Group Level Documents and local asset procedures including safety, health, environment and community and associated corporate reporting.   
  • Maintain strong working relationships with local community, contractors, consultants and government/regulator stakeholders.    

About You

  • Bachelor or higher degree in Engineering or Science with background in mining, geotechnical, or environmental is preferred.
  • Physical fit for field activities including hiking in adverse terrain and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mining, environmental, geotechnical or closely related field.  
  • Practical knowledge of risk assessment and mine closure key concepts, theories and practices. 
  • Working knowledge of CAD, GIS software, Visio, etc. is plus.
  • Experience working with the environmental and mining regulations of the US and Arizona (e.g. USEPA, ADEQ, MSHA)
  • Strong computer skills as required to provide reporting detail and/or electronic communication as required.  
  • Strong technical writing and good communication skills.
  • Proven record of accomplishment for risk assessment and control associated with operations and projects.
