About the role

Eastern Ridge Fixed Plant operations are seeking a Mechanical Technician to join the Execution team.

With this role you have the choice of either being fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman on a 2 weeks-on 1 week-off, 7 days 7 nights-on 7 days-off roster, FIFO from Perth or residentially based in Newman.

You’ll be working at Eastern Ridge mine site, which is made up of several deposits and contributes to the overall ore production of the Newman Joint Venture hub. The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities. As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes.

In this role you’ll be responsible for;

  • Overriding commitment to the BHP Charter, Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainable Development
  • Accountable for all maintenance and operations duties amongst fixed plant assets
  • Maintaining all aspects of equipment maintenance including preventative maintenance, modular maintenance, fault Finding, rebuilds, repairs, and commissioning
  • Collaborate and work effectively with other maintenance and production team members, including contractors, to better understand and manage equipment maintenance and resolve problems impacting on all areas
  • Carry out required work management duties and ensure that all documentation and data entry is accurately completed and to a high standard
  • Undertake thorough preventative maintenance inspections of all plant and equipment, reporting any defects or required future works
    Accept a high level of ownership of maintenance activities and equipment performance
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, attention to detail and quality of work
  • Maintain a high level working knowledge of safety processes and procedures

About You

This is an exciting opportunity for a safety-focused individual ideally with a mechanical background in maintenance within a processing environment.  As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
  • Mechanical Trade Certified (mechanical fitter)
  • Minimum of C class manual driver’s licence;
  • Experience with safety management systems
  • Experience operating and maintaining Fixed Plant assets including; crushing, dry and wet screening plants
  • Experience troubleshooting crushing, conveying and hydraulic systems
