About the role

Eastern Ridge Fixed Plant operations are seeking an Electrical Technician to join the Execution team.

With this role you have the choice of either being fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman on a 2 weeks-on 1 week-off, 7 days 7 nights-on 7 days-off roster, FIFO from Perth or residentially based in Newman.

You’ll be working at Eastern Ridge mine site, which is made up of several deposits and contributes to the overall ore production of the Newman Joint Venture hub. The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities.  As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes.

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, within the Fixed Plant team your duties will include:
  • Ensuring conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level   Documents, Code of
  • Conduct and relevant statutory obligations
  • Accountable for all maintenance and operations duties amongst fixed plant assets
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
  • Repairs and servicing on fixed plant, workshop and infrastructure
  • Carrying out all activities within the whole-of-job scope including; pre-work, JHA, organising materials, execution, testing and completion of tasks
  • Performing high voltage switching operations
  • Working from electrical drawings, prints, plans or manuals, and recording modifications
  • Ensuring we meet our statutory obligations in accordance to MSIR and ELR1991
  • Collaborate and work effectively with other Maintenance and Production team members, including Contractors, to better understand and manage Equipment Maintenance and resolve problems impacting on all areas
  • Carry out required work management duties and ensure that all documentation and data entry is accurately completed and to a high standard
  • Undertake thorough preventative maintenance inspections of all plant and Equipment, reporting any defects or required future works
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, attention to detail and quality of work
  • Maintain a high level working knowledge of safety processes and procedures

About You


As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
  • Current 'A' Grade Electrical Licence
  • Minimum of C class manual driver’s licence
  • A sound understanding of AS3000, AS3008, AS3017.
  • Experience operating and maintaining Fixed Plant Operation, including crushing, dry and wet screening plants
  • Experience with statutory compliance requirements for Mine Safety and Inspection Act
  • Experience with safety management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to approach work with a ‘can do attitude’ and work well within a team to achieve combined success
  • Working at heights, confined space entry, gas test atmospheres
