This Mine Geologist role will be based at the Nickel West Leinster’s open pit operations. Open Pit mining is conducted by contractor workforce delivering ore to the Mill on site. The Grade Control team will be responsible for determining the volume and quality of ore produced, with a focus on optimum recoveries. As such this team will be a key intermediary between Nickel West and the contractor parties.Working autonomously within a small team, the Mine Geologist will be responsible for daily ore tracking and reporting, ROM stockpile management, block boundary definition and reconciliations. Responsibilities will also encompass data entry and management and completion of grade control updates with Leapfrog and Datamine.The Grade Control Geologist will be expected to assist the Senior Geologist with ore stockpile management and mine reconciliation as required.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology
  • Background in hard rock mining is essential
  • Experience in open pit grade control
  • Current Australian Manual Driver's licence

Nickel West Leinster

Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The operation currently sources nickel ore from the Rocky’s Reward and Camelot Open Pits, Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate.
