About the role

  • We have two roles available for a talented Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing and thriving business
  • Great family friendly roster 8 days on 6 days off
Reporting to the Lead Engineer, the role of Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for providing geotechnical services to the business, which will incorporate the following:
  • All aspects of day-to-day slope design implementation
  • Geotechnical pit inspections and hazard management
  • Geotechnical monitoring systems installation, maintenance and interpretation (radar and prisms)
  • Support and improvement of the geotechnical engineering systems through cross-collaborative engagement with key stakeholders.
This diverse range of work will see you positively influence business decisions and will require a focus on delivering value, clear decision-making skills, technical excellence and strong collaboration skills.This role will be a fly in – fly out role to our operations in the Pilbara. The role will be primarily based at Area C (MAC), also supporting both Yandi and South Flank operations.

About You

We are focused on finding candidates with the right values, leadership, and communication skills.  Your superior stakeholder engagement will foster collaborative working relationships across our Geoscience, Engineering, Studies and Operational Teams.  In addition to demonstrated leadership capability, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focussed attitude.The ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and organisational levels to create buy-in and influence outcomes will be highly regarded.  A passion for continuous improvement will contribute to the identification, development and implementation of improvement opportunities. In addition, you will ideally possess the following:
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering and / or Geoscience, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in a geotechnical engineering position
  • Resource industry and site based geotechnical experience
  • Geotechnical open cut mine design experience
  • Capability with a Mining CAD package (such as Vulcan)
  • Capability with geotechnical engineering software

Location

You will be based at our ‘Area C’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 8:6 roster.  Our Area C mine is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
