About the role

This role is based within the Technical Services team at Nickel West Leinster Mine. The successful candidate will focus on the quality control and data collection aspect of the operations and work closely with the Geotechnical Engineers and Senior Geotechnical Engineers. 
Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, your key accountabilities will include:
  • Acquiring and processing Sirovision images
  • Face mapping and sampling
  • QAQC of Shotcrete, grout and bolt installation
  • Instrumentation installation and data collection
  • Systems development and implementation as required.
  • Testing work and data interpretation as required
  • Assist the Geotechnical Engineers, Senior Geotechnical Engineers and Principal Geotechnical Engineer as required

Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate. The Leinster Village and Township offer a unique lifestyle with all the modern conveniences – an Olympic size swimming pool, health and fitness centre, race-course and even an 18 hole golf course.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
  • Computer literacy and/or experience with MS Office and 1SAP (advantageous but not essential);
  • Previous underground mining experience or the ability to work underground
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to significantly contribute to an experienced team. 
  • Minimum C class Driver’s Licence essential
  • Preferably tertiary level qualifications in either Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering.
  • Previous experience as a technician in an underground mining operation preferred
  • Familiarity with Sirovision package advantageous
