About the role

This role is key to maximising process efficiencies for the Surface Processing Operation specifically in the Hot Metals area, as well as defining and executing projects and improving process stability with the intent to surpass safety and performance targets.Olympic Dam is a fully integrated producer of metallic Cu, Au, Ag and uranium oxide so offers access to a wide range of unit operations including milling, flotation, leaching, Cu and U solvent extraction, smelting, acid production, electro-refining and electro-winning.


Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, with 5/2 residential, or 9/5,5/2,4/3 FIFO (ex-Adelaide) options available.


In this role you will:
  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader and engaging the operation teams
  • Carry out tasks including analysis of key performance metrics and benchmarks to support optimisation of plant and operational performance
  • Constantly look for opportunities to improve work practices and procedures
  • Understand and apply financial management within production operations
  • Daily analysis of production trends ensuring process efficiency and to identify any corrective actions
  • Generate reports against performance targets
  • Coordinate with maintenance planning teams during shutdown periods
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to production teams, to support operations performance to deliver safe, reliable production

About You

  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
  • Degree qualified in Metallurgy, Chemical or Process Engineering
  • Experience in process plant performance reviews
  • Ability to operate at multiple levels and across disciplines
  • Adaptable and welcoming approach to be able to liaise and work closely with various departments and teams
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Confident to coach, lead and initiate change
  • Previous Experience in Flash Smelting, Electric Slag Furnaces and Anode Furnaces will be highly regarded.
