About the role

An opportunity exists for an experienced IT Audit Specialist to join our IAA (Internal Audit and Advisory) department, in the role of Specialist IT Audit, based in Melbourne.

IAA’s purpose is to provide independent and objective assurance over the Group’s governance, risk management and internal control processes to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of BHP. We achieve this by planning and executing high quality risk-based audits using a collaborative and engaging approach with our stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of this role:
  • Assists in the delivery of the approved internal audit plan of a broad range of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) internal audits globally within a rapidly evolving business environment.
  • Assist in the delivery of all assigned engagements in line with the Internal Audit processes, quality guidelines, early planning and adequate stakeholder engagement.
  • Conduct risk-based IT/OT technology audits, pre and post implementation reviews of major system or application projects, the IT component of Sarbanes-Oxley testing and SAP security and configuration assessments for global business processes.
  • Leverage strong technical IT/OT skills along with proficiency in auditing to assist in assessing business risks within a dynamic organisational and technological environment, executing a defined audit approach to successfully deliver all assigned engagements on-time, on-budget and with high quality and value orientation.
  • Conduct internal audits in accordance with BHP’s Internal Audit Charter, relevant internal standards and the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing as promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

About You

To be successful in securing this role, you are an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, essential in building constructive relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholders and across functional teams,

You are very likely to have the following attributes and qualifications:
  • 8+ years significant IT and OT audit and risk management experience in a large international mining, heavy manufacturing or industrial environment is essential.
  • Bachelor of Information Technology or related degree in Commerce/Management/Finance or Accounting required.
  • Completed Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent required.
  • Completed CA/CPA/CIA or similar qualification with exposure to work within a large, complex and global organisation.
  • Extensive experience in applying COBIT, NIST, ITL, ISO27000 series and other relevant standards within large complex technology environments to audit risk management, security and operational control within IT, ERP, SCADA and industrial systems.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory reporting with a Big 4 background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of advanced technologies, technology frameworks and related audit/risk implications.
  • Business acumen - ability to apply a business lens to technical areas and to translate technical matters into a common business understanding.
  • Experience in listed companies.
