The South Flank Project is an expansion of BHP's existing Mining Area C hub, located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman. This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore.

About the role


We are seeking diverse and talented individuals to take on this exciting newly created role of a Fixed Plant Technician within our Fixed Plant Team at our South Flank Mine.


This exciting new opportunity will be a combination of the traditional Processing Production Technician combined with a number of Fixed Plant Maintenance skill sets that will be obtained on the job to create the Fixed Plant Technician role.

  Your role will be to carry out a number of tasks within the Fixed Plant including but not limited to:
  • Fixed Plant inspections
  • Housekeeping activities
  • Auxiliary machine operation - Excavator, loader, bobcat
  • Fault finding of equipment
  • Shutdown preparation tasks
  We will offer on the job training in the following areas Cert II in Engineering, Cert II in Processing Operations along with a number of machine operation tickets!

About You

We are eager to engage with people who have a genuine interest in the mining industry. We would still love to hear from those who come from a range of backgrounds such as Construction, Manufacturing, Minerals Processing, Military and Agriculture– just to name a few!

  You will be someone who works productively in a team environment following specific operational tasks and procedures, actively identifies opportunities for continuous productivity improvement, whilst always working in a safe and productive manner.

  The ideal candidate will have a C Class Driver’s licence and be self-motivated with mechanically inclined skills set. Sound Computer Skills is desirable

 The roster will be based on a foundation of 2 week on (1 week days, 1 week nights), 1 week off, but those in pursuit of flexible work arrangements are encouraged to apply.
