We are seeking diverse and talented 1st year applications for our 2020 Apprenticeship Program across BHP’s Queensland Operations. For commencement in early 2020, we are offering a number of opportunities within the Bowen Basin communities in which we Operate.

About the role

This is an outstanding opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander school leavers and mature aged candidates to develop a dynamic and fulfilling career. The program is delivered to develop cultured, engaged, highly skilled and work ready apprentices to our business.  It will be a structured program with practical hands on and theoretical learning required to achieve the competencies of the program.

Nationally Accredited trades Certificates being offered may include:
  • Automotive Electrical (Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology)
  • Diesel Fitting (Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology)
  • Electrical (Certificate III in Electro technology Electrician)
  • Mechanical Fitting (Certificate III Engineering- Mechanical Trade)
  • Boilermaking (Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication Trade- Boiler Making/Welding) 
  • Refrigeration Mechanic (Certificate III in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration)

About You

  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Demonstrated interest in your chosen trade through work experience or hobby / interests
  • A high commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail and procedures
  • Motivation to achieve personal work goals and objectives
  • A strong desire to learn and develop a range of new skills associated with your chosen trade
  • A team player with a willingness to actively contribute to achieve results.
  • Hold a current, valid Australian ‘Learners’ Drivers Licence. A full ‘C’ class Manual DVL essential prior to completing apprenticeship.
