About IPRO 

BHP's Integrated Production and Remote Operations (IPRO) team manages the Iron Ore Supply Chain via forecasting, scheduling, controlling, deviation management and inventory accounting, across mine, rail and port operations.

About the role

Our Traineeships 

Based in our City Square Office, we are excited to offer a number of Indigenous Traineeships within the following two positions:
  • Trainee Controller 
  • Trainee Logistics Scheduler 

Trainee Controller 

Our Integrated Remote Operations Centre (IROC), operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using advanced, real-time technology to enable visibility and control, across the entire Iron Ore supply chain. The department is split into four Control teams (Plant, Rail, Mine & Drill) where employees work collaboratively with site, to make faster decisions improving safety and optimising value across the supply chain.

Reporting to a Supervisor, you will be trained to control the safe and effective operation of equipment across the Pilbara from our Perth based hub.  Following daily schedules you will look for opportunities to optimise where possible, fault find and build strong working relationships with stakeholders on site. 

As a Trainee Controller you will have the opportunity to gain valuable site based exposure during your training period. This could either be on a short term FIFO or ad hoc site visit basis. 

Trainee Logistics Scheduler 

As Logistics Scheduler you will be accountable for coordinating the movement of product from mine stockpile to the ship hatch through the WAIO logistics chain with a specific focus on enabling the business to recover from unplanned operational events.  This is achieved through the development, publishing and communicating of short term logistics schedules and monitoring of daily operational performance against plan across mine, rail and port.

This Traineeship will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate(s) to gain exposure and an understanding of the different roles performed within the department. 

About You

As a Trainee within IPRO you don’t need to have previous mining experience.  We are looking for individuals who keen to be part of a forward thinking team and able to provide a fresh set of eyes to help us challenge and improve our processes. 

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
  • Strong commitment to your own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others
  • A positive proactive attitude towards problem solving.
  • Sound computer literacy skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Good collaboration and interpersonal skills are required to influence stakeholders in the delivery of positive business outcomes
  • Minimum formal education minimum of Grade 10
  • Due to our fatigue management policy you will need to reside within a 45 minute commute of the CBD

Lifestyle Roster

This position will work on our Lifestyle Roster, working a pattern of days and nights, with a block of days off at the end of each swing.  

Employees on this roster enjoy two full weekends off out of four and will align to the following shift rotation: 2D2N5X, 2D3N4X, 3D2N5X. Shifts are 12.5 hours including handover and you will benefit from additional shift allowances, as part of your remuneration package. As an added benefit, those on a Lifestyle Roster will also enjoy an additional week of annual leave per year.
