About the role

Reporting to the Infrastructure Maintenance Supervisor this Technician role will undertake preventative maintenance inspections and breakdown repairs on our Communications Networks and associated infrastructure.


You will be based at our ‘Area C’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out from Perth 2/1 (14 days on, 7 days off)  roster.  Our Area C mine is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.


In this role you will:
  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Embed a safe systems of work for each activity undertaken and all personnel are adhering to them.
  • Execute the maintenance work plan and elevate unplanned and non-routine activity or performance to the Supervisor
  • Provide multi-skilled technical and field support to the sites operations for the entire scope of Infrastructure accountabilities including LTE, digital radio systems, fibre optic networks, access control systems, audio visual systems and more
  • Assist the site Infrastructure Supervisor in identifying and implementing improvement priorities that contribute to current and potential value to the business
  • Cultivate positive relationships through effective communication, consultation and collaboration
  • Work closely with our Remote Operations Centre to provide resolutions (both reactive and proactive) of problems, assisting with identifying root causes and implementation of remedies to prevent future incidents.


About You

To be successful in the role, you possess a Trade/Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Communications/Electronics/Industrial Electrical. Having any of these licenses or certificates or would be favourable but not essential:  ACMA Open Cabling Licence with F,O,C Endorsements, Certificate lll in Telecommunications, High Risk Work Licence with WP, FL or Cisco CCNA.

You will also be able to demonstrate experience in maintaining and supporting IT/OT technology in one or more of the following systems or underpinning technology components:
  • Access Control incl CCTV
  • Audio Visual & Video Conferencing Systems
  • GNSS Base Stations
  • End User Computing incl Desktop Support
  • Digital Radio Systems
  • Long-Term Evolution (LTE)


In addition, you will have a proven track record in the delivery of support services and possess infrastructure/network management experience in IT/OT in a large and remote environment.
