About the role

As the LTE Lead East, it will be your responsibility to design, optimise and integrate Evolved Packet Core (EPC) which is a framework for providing converged voice and data on a 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network.

Your role will play a key part in designing and developing technical solutions that adhere to OT communications standards, reference architecture and to blueprint in order to address business requirements. You will work closely with our Technology Remote Operations Centre (TROC) and site technology teams to implement logical and physical changes dependant on the project.

In this role you will are looked to as a mentor and leader, as such you will provide mentorship and guidance to other LTE engineers, wireless engineers and Digital Radio Systems engineers within the team to promote a cross skilling and depth of knowledge across all disciplines. 
Key duties to include;
  • Develop and maintain design blueprints and standards for LTE Core and RAN Networks.
  • Develop and evaluate network performance criteria and measurement methods.
  • Act as a technical SME for project related issues and drive resolutions to meet SLA’s when delegated by the principal.
  • Develop and roll out standards and guidelines for network design and operation.
  • Prepare and deliver in-depth audits for LTE network to ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are in place and applied.
  • Evaluate vendor products and services to ensure quality and cost meet company’s needs.
  • Manage the end-to-end Core design documents and blueprints to, ensure that these documents are kept up to date, and strictly followed.
  • Conduct and document detailed site survey reports to facilitate the constructions of low and high level designs.

About You

You will need to be flexible and able to travel internationally for projects as required. Experience working within a matrix organization environment will be beneficial as will exposure to heavy industry such as mining, manufacturing, utilities etc. 
Criteria to include;

  • Multi Skilled across IP Networking Engineering, Communications and Electronic systems including: Radio Frequency, LTE EUTRAN, Nokia HSS (carrier grade), Nokia MCN (enterprise) or Net-Number systems
  • Hands on experience on the Nokia LTE Products
  • Solid technical background in a hosted services environment including infrastructure networks, hardware, software and telecommunications
  • Solid knowledge in using industry standard network monitoring and management tools (Solarwinds, Splunk, Prime etc.) and develop monitoring tool requirements for new services, update or modify existing tools to accommodate newly added elements
  • Ability to perform site surveys and produce detailed reports
  • Familiarity in hosting and infrastructure,  virtualization experience using VMWare
  • Familiarity to IP networks
  • Thorough understanding of Cat 5e, Cat 6 and OM3/4 – OS2 fiber optic cabling systems
  • Good understanding of industry cable test procedures and equipment for a variety of different cabling systems (Copper/Fiber test equipment, OTDR, Network analyzer, etc.)
  • Make positive work relationships a priority and display a genuine passion and commitment toward the team
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Attention to detail, testing and documentation
  • All required site statutory competencies as referenced in the site health and safety management system and/or BHP policy
  • A proven track record of safety management
  • Excellent oral and written, sound communication and interpersonal skills


Qualifications

  • STEM Qualification is ideal
  • Trade certificate in various transmission and communications technologies, electronic communications / Network Technologies including wired and wireless / safety and critical communication systems
  • ITIL or similar industry best practice tool certification, preferred but not essential
  • IT network certifications (CCNA,CCNP,CCIE – or industry recognised equivalent)
