Laboratory Analyst  | Nickel West | Fixed Term Contract | Mt Keith

The duties of the Laboratory analyst are varied. You will be required to perform sample preparation duties, prepare and run samples on XRF, XRD and AAS. Perform non-routine duties and project work, as directed by the Chief Chemist.Your challenge is to maintain your own workload and the workload of other staff whilst providing accurate results for all of the laboratories customers. Using your strong organizational skills, you will also ensure timely reporting and quality data entry.You will be maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment to ensure results are accurate and reported on time. You will also at times be the point of contact for the laboratory when the Chief Chemist or delegate is not available.

About You

As a Laboratory Analyst you will have a chance to utilise your previous experience working in a laboratory environment and interacting with numerous site staff. At Nickel West we use the latest technology in laboratory analysis allowing you to progress your experience and career in a state of the art laboratory.

Your excellent communication and organisational skills as well as your ability to work well in a team will guarantee success in this position. You will benefit from a stimulating and diverse workload within a supportive and dynamic environment.You will have experience in the following:
  • Experience in an industrial or commercial laboratory environment is highly desirable
  • Experience in Sample Preparation, Acid Digestion and experience in using LIMS is desirable
  • Previous experience in using  XRF spectrometry are preferred
  • Formal qualifications in Chemistry related studies would be highly regarded
  • Sound literacy in computer packages and competencies in Excel.

Nickel West Mt Keith is located 460 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in the Northern Goldfields.  Nickel West Mt Keith is a surface mining operation with multiple open pits and a concentrator plant.  The operation is surrounded by pastoral stations, with the nearest townships being Leinster and Wiluna.  There’s plenty to keep you entertained in the Mt Keith Village. Take the heat off the day and head to the pool – or join in any number of social activities. Employees commute to and from Perth on a fly in / fly out roster or form regional areas on a drive in / drive out roster.
