About the role

Reporting to the Mass Transportation Superintendent within the Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) team, your innovation and experience will support you to create support to the Aviation strategies, procedures, decision making and performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Demonstrate commitment and conformance to the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Demonstrate and instil an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Assist the Mass Transportation Superintendent in Audit of compliance to Risk Management Standards, Processes and Procedures.
  • Aerodrome Manager for both Coondewanna and Barimunya Airports
  •  Oversight of Aerodrome Inspections and Reporting in accordance with CASA Manual of Standards Part 139
  • Set and clearly communicate targets and expectations aligned with BHPBIO values.
  • Accept accountability for the performance of their teams by ensuring quality of tasks, services and advice to the operation and asset functions.
  • Lead the optimal resourcing of the section and ensure that the simplification/implementation of systems and processes are core priorities to enable effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Lead, coach and mentor employees to deliver on plan and build a high performing team.
  • Cultivate positive relationships through effective communication and consultation.
  • Positively influence and shape the culture to ensure a safe, productive, quality, sustainable and disciplined approach to work

About You

With demonstrated experience in aerodrome leadership roles and a strong background in material risk management, you will have a passion for ensuring that your team strives for excellence whilst ensuring safe practices at all times. 
As this position manages two airports you will have the natural ability to thrive in a busy but rewarding environment.

  • Aircraft flight line operations
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in Aerodrome Management
  • Previous experience in managing Material Risk
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities 

  • Aerodrome Reporting Officer certification from accredited training service provider 
  • Flight Radio Telephone Operators  course 
  • Section 44 – Appointed Person 
  • Aviation Dangerous goods awareness certificate 
  • Ability to pass security background checks for aerodrome security compliance
