About the role

The Non Process Infrastructure (NPI) & WA Iron Ore Maintenance (WAIO) Engineering team based in Perth provide support for a wide portfolio that requires a Lead Electrical Engineer.    Reporting to the Superintendent of Governance & Technical Stewardship (GTS), you will provide guidance and technical expertise to a team of electrical engineers with a particular focus on all aspects of high voltage (HV) and NPI assets across the business.     In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Managing and coaching a team of electrical engineers
  • Engaging internal stakeholders to identify priorities with respect engineering support
  • Providing technical expertise to a broad range of stakeholders including Project and Maintenance teams in both planned and breakdown environments
  • Providing support to the ongoing asset integrity program
  • Managing the HV network development and planning processes
  • Managing and governing electrical standards
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance to all regulatory requirements and internal policies, procedures and standards with respect to electrical design and maintenance of HV and NPI assets.
  • Identifying opportunities for technical improvements and the use of new technology to support the delivery of capital projects
  • Reviewing and approving electrical engineering requests to support our Management of Change process
  • Assisting the development of budget and capital planning

About You

As part of the NPI Engineering Team within BHP Iron Ore, the following attributes will be key to your success:
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • Demonstrated capabilities in effectively engaging with various levels and across Operations and Functions
  • Experience in HV Transmission assets, water, camps design engineering and planning would be advantageous; 
  • Working knowledge and application of Australian Standards in the HV Power industry;
  • Proficient in asset management;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
