About the role

As a Tactical Planning Lead Engineer you will lead a mine planning team in providing specialist advice and leadership in executing tasks related to the development and communication of the medium term (4 months – 5 years) plans, designs, schedules and haulage modelling for one of BMA’s Operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Leading and directing preparation of Dragline, Truck and Shovel and Dozer Push designs and schedules for quarterly to 24 months Short Range Forecasts and Annual Budget and 5 year Plan processes;
  • Engaging and influencing key internal stakeholders in the planning process to ensure Tactical plans are reliable, safe, productive and fit for purpose;
  • Embedding and growing cross-functional relationship with the Operational teams to implement designs, plans and schedules in line with production targets;
  • Continuously improve the Tactical Planning process;
  • Leading investigation of reported events for Tactical Planning;
  • Identifying and embedding productivity improvement initiatives, and optimising designs to maximise profitability.

About You

You will act as a focused & supportive leader within the broader Resource Engineering team. The RE Team value sharing skills and experience to help ensure your own and the Team’s success. Your ability to communicate, influence & engage with the Operations & key stakeholders & lead delivery of team commitments will position you well for future career opportunities.

You will have proven experience (6-10 years) in open cut coal mines. Your knowledge of designing & scheduling for coal mining operations will equip you to lead the Tactical Planning Team in developing fit for purpose, value accretive plans.

Skills in Spry and Deswik//Vulcan would be an advantage.
