About the role

We seek highly motivated individuals to join our dynamic team. The Lead Global Mobility will be responsible to lead, develop and manage the performance of the team to ensure timely and accurate execution of effective and high quality delivery of Global Mobility (GM) services.

Core Accountabilities
  • Manage, motivate, coach and develop a team of global mobility specialists to deliver world-class service against performance targets to ensure service delivery is compliant, timely and customer-focused whilst maintaining operational discipline. Supports the team with prioritizing workload and requests.
  • Develop and enable GAS GM team members through leadership and effective performance management.  Support organizational change through effective change management with the team.
  • Provide specialist technical subject matter expertise in the area of global mobility including tax, immigration and relocation, and external legal, regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Support the GAS GM team with resolving complex employee and leader global mobility queries and be the point of escalation for the business on service delivery and compliance issues.
  • Accountable for the governance, delivery, administration and execution of BHP’s global mobility program, policies and procedures, including, but not limited to:
    • Oversee day-to-day case management for International Assignees (IAs) (including executive employees) with regard to relocation, tax, immigration services including IA contractual requirements, and assignment enquiry management
    • Management of policy exceptions requests
    • Management of GAS GM service delivery framework and end-to-end accountabilities
    • Review of GM processes, tools, templates, systems to ensure compliance with regulatory and governance requirements
    • Provide guidance and support to GAS IA Payroll team
    • Maintenance and ongoing governance of IA data in AssignmentPro and other external Vendor third party systems to ensure completeness and accuracy of records.
    • Develop relationships with BHP’s external tax, immigration and relocation vendors to ensure high quality service delivery and prompt resolution of issues
  • Produce and analyses relevant reports on operational and management Key Performance Indicators where required.
  • Monitor, govern and ensure alignment and compliance with internal controls including the Operational Plan, Group Level Documents, agreements, systems, standards and procedures, and legislative compliance. Ensure that GM processes are documented and standards are maintained.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Proactively seek opportunities to simplify, remove duplication and minimize hand-offs to enhance standardization and efficiency.
  • Identify risks and provide input into mitigations and action planning.  Ensure Risk Management protocols are incorporated into operational activities
  • Maintain good working relationships with peers within the BHP HR community (Global Reward, HRBP’s, HR Operations, and Sub-Function SMEs).
  • Support the GAS Reward Manager as required.

About You

  • Experience managing teams to support delivery/execution of global mobility policies, processes and initiatives
  • Deep technical expertise in global mobility programs, including ability to think conceptually, analyze, problem solve and drive practical solutions
  • Ability to navigate complex issues and develop simplified processes to manage the complexity
  • Promote a culture of innovation, learning and development and continuous improvement with the team.
  • Ability to influence others to achieve desired outcomes, including being able to work with people across all levels of the organization (administrators to Vice Presidents) and cross-culturally as part of a global team
  • Able to translate data analytics into commercial insights
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree or equivalent education required and/or international reward roles
  • Deep experience with the management and understanding of global mobility programs and policies
  • Excellent understanding of reporting requirements and governance issues as they relate to tax and immigration and understanding of global jurisdictional differences, legislation and regulations
  • Extensive technical experience in global mobility concepts, methodologies and approaches as well as strong people management (directly or indirectly) in a global company.
  • Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • Good understanding of international HR and payroll processes, reporting and data management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously while prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in use of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular Microsoft Excel Project management skills will be an advantage.
  • Experience in SAP and AssignmentPro (or equivalent) preferred.

  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • Spanish skills would be an added advantage
