About the role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Mine Coal Scheduling Lead who would like to manage complex coal planning at our Mt Arthur Mine Site in the Hunter Valley Region. This unique position will enable you have a significant impact to the delivery of coal and site productivity through ownership of the mine site forecast.

New South Wales Energy Coal (NSWEC) is complex due to the size and number of seams we actively recover, this creates a great opportunity for a scheduler to manage the interactions and leverage options to enhance value.
The Coal Specialist role is a pivotal position within the Mine Scheduling team at Mt Arthur, as you will define the product quality that we sell to our customers to maximise value for the mine. As the successful applicant, you have visibility across the logistics chain through to Daily operation to ensure recovery and blending options are explored to their fullest.

You will use your strong technical skills and experience to lead a team of Mining Engineers to produce designs and schedules that will enable operations to deliver superior performance, while developing effective working relationships with key stakeholders to deliver safe and effective mine plans.

Your main responsibilities:
  • Ownership of SRF for forecast coal production;
  • Responsbile for maximising actuals in the weekly plan;
  • Maintain accountabilites and identification of opportunites with contract parnters:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Operational representatives to deliver key schedule objectives;
  • Monitor the monthly priorities and inventories within defined limits;
  • Pursue continuous improvement opportunities throughout your day-to-day work; and
  • Complete reconcilation to ensure accuracy in coal model. 

About You

You will be tertiary qualified in Mine Engineering or Geology with the relevant experience in an open cut mining operation. Your experience with coal planning will be highly desirable.

Due to the nature of this role your people and communication skills are of the upmost importance as well as your relationship skills when liaising, negotiating and influencing a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will also have similar experience leading a medium size team.
