About the role

The Autonomous Haulage Australia (AHA) program is currently in a Definition Phase Study (DPS). The Project Delivery Team will be accountable for integrating the autonomous solution to a nominated mine site. The role will ensure delivery of the project success criteria, according the defined safety, quality and performance KPI’s.     Reporting into the Superintendent Project Manager, this role is accountable to lead a high performing, multi-disciplinary team of project specialists, and will help deliver business case objectives for the delivery phase.
  Your core duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Oversee and/or manage the delivery of programs / projects to operating mine sites and production operations in alignment with the AHA strategy.
  • Ensure all projects are managed in accordance with BHP’s relevant project management framework, standards and procedures.
  • Manage programs and projects through their full lifecycle from studies through to operational handover.
  • Ensure the effective management of risk on all in scope programs and projects, and any operational environments impacted by the programs and projects.
  • Ensure the effective management and reporting of all project components including scope, cost, schedule, quality etc.
  • Ensure all necessary approvals are obtained and maintained for all projects.
  • Oversee the performance of project teams, with regular mentoring and support to further develop their ability to manage their respective domains; maintain projects portfolio and reporting.
  • Oversee the practices that ensure compliance with the requirements of mines safety acts and/or regulations in accordance with the relevant country, state, region or county.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to ensure Technology being designed and built fits within the Technology portfolio and delivers business value.

About You

You will be a motivated and passionate with demonstrable experience in leadership roles in project delivery with industry experience in mining, oil & gas, utilities or manufacturing highly regarded but not necessary; must have exposure to Information Technology and/or Operational Technology project environment.  
Technical Skills and Abilities
  • Tertiary qualifications in a STEM subject.
  • Strong project delivery experience across a range of technologies.
  • Ability to manage a large number of inputs and effectively prioritise high value / high risk issues.
  • Experiencing in managing internal and external resource teams working on projects in high risk and mission critical site environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding.
  • Vendor management expertise for the purposes of project / change management.
  • Ability to convey information to non-technical colleagues in a concise and clear way.
  • Creative approach to problem solving with the ability to focus on the details when required.
  • Desirable but not essential is knowledge of Waterfall
