About the role

Your main responsibilities will include:


·     Assisting with standing up the new Legal Service Team including development of governance processes and sustainable engagement model. 

·     Providing guidance and support for activities including but not limited to legal knowledge management, matter management, budgeting and financial processes, optimising the use of law firm value added services and reporting. In particular, the legal operations team will be integral to supporting Legal budgeting (including budget strategy) and law firm procurement activities.

·     Committed to continuous improvement and actively seeking out opportunities to bring innovation and process improvement opportunities to the Legal team. Contributing to the long term continuous improvement in Legal to ensure operational best practice.

·     In this role there will be very frequent interactions with members of the Legal team globally, including senior leaders, across the globe. This will require establishing and maintaining relationships with the Legal team, the wider BHP team and our Legal Panel. Build relationships with different Legal teams, stakeholders and aligned functions.

About You

This position requires you to have effective capability in dealing with both internal and external stakeholders, applying commercial and strategic acumen; and the adaptability in varied time-sensitive situations. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in operations or practice management for top-tier law firm / big 4 firm, corporate legal department, LPO,  shared services centre or consulting firm. Legal, finance, procurement and consulting backgrounds will be considered.

Experience using Microsoft Suite (including Sharepoint), and experience with practice management software like 1SAP and Legal Tracker (formerly Serengeti) preferred (but not essential).
