About BHP

BHP is establishing Operations Services – a new team of employees who will provide production and maintenance services that have previously been performed by external contractors. We are investing in our team to take your skills and career to places you never thought possible. This is an exciting time for BHP. Are you ready to make your place?

About the role

These roles have been developed to maximise our already strong process of Standardised work within our Mining Operations and to uplift production by focusing on the equipment and the performance of our people. This role will see you identify and coordinate continual improvement initiatives with the opportunity to add real value in safety and productivity to our Production crews.
You will be a part of our frontline leadership team and will support our leaders and crews to develop and sustain new ways of working, as well as build their problem solving capability. Utilising innovative approaches, tools and technology - you will play a key role in setting new standards to guide improvement and optimization activities in order to, elevate and support our people.

You will be responsible for analysing the Production team's performance to establish benchmarks and identify and implement improvement initiatives that support business priorities and continuous improvement. Rosters will be discussed at interview stage as well as FIFO options. Roles will be based in the Bowen Basin and can be offered as FIFO, DIDO or residential.

About You

You will have experience in a similar position where you are able to demonstrate your comprehensive analytical and business improvement skills that have led to bottom line improvements. Ideally, you will have experience in open cut mining operations.

Your strong written communication skills are founded by experienced analytical and presentation abilities allowing you to effectively communicate with your peers. You will have an overriding commitment to working safely and ensuring everyone goes home safe every day.

Experience with business improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing, and use of data management and analysis tools such as Spotfire or Corvus, would be highly beneficial.  Relevant tertiary qualifications would be highly valued.

Supporting a diverse workforce

At BHP, we recognise that we are strengthened by diversity. We are committed to providing a work environment in which everyone is included, treated fairly and with respect. We are an Equal Opportunity employer and we encourage applications from women and Indigenous people. We know there are many aspects of our employees’ lives that are important, and work is only one of these, so we offer benefits to enable your work to fit with your life.  These benefits include flexible working options, a generous paid parental leave policy, other extended leave entitlements and parent rooms.

ImportantThe safety of BHP’s people and our candidates is our number one priority. Due to the unfolding circumstances of COVID-19 and the Government regulations in place to deal with the pandemic,   your working location and/or roster as advertised in this advert may be temporarily subject to change whilst the government regulations are in place. This is to ensure the health safety of our workforce, and to implement effective social distancing measures.  These changes if applicable will be discussed at screening and interview stage.
