About the role

We are seeking diverse and talented individuals to take on the role of Technician Mechanical – Maintenance 1 (M1) at our Newman Operations Mines. 

You will be involved in responding to maintenance calls from operators, analysing machine asset health data and making quick decisions to respond to unplanned machine downtime of all Heavy Mobile Equipment on site.  

There are several roles available between both our Newman East & West Operations on either an East (Eastern Ridge) 2:1 FIFO Roster or West (Whaleback) 5:2 residential roster.
  • Act and Respond to operator calls regarding machine issues and unscheduled maintenance
  • Liaise directly with Mine Control (IROC) around delay monitoring/adjustment.
  • Liaise directly with Mine Supervisors, Planners & Schedulers around mine plan deviation.
  • Use of computerised maintenance systems (1SAP)
  • Prioritise work to meet shift objectives
  • Liaise with other Departments to coordinate activities
  • Participation in safety meetings and site safety programmes
  • Follow and ensure compliance with Maintenance Work Management Processes
  • Complete and validate Shift Reports and document all issues requiring follow up
  • Analysing and recording of Machine Health to assist in Fault Finding/Diagnosis
  • Accurate completion of documentation including work order close out comments, drawings and technical reports as necessary
  • Facilitating shift changeovers
  • Attend Maintenance meetings as required

About You

As the successful candidate, you will ideally possess the following;
  • Trade certificate required – HD Fitter or similar 
  • Exposure to the following – CAT 785C/D, 789C/D, 793F/D Trucks, CAT Loaders 992G/K, 994F/K, CAT 16M and 24M Graders, CAT D10 and D11 Dozers, CAT 854K Wheel Dozers, Komatsu WA1200 Loaders, Liebherr 9400 and 996 Excavators, Epiroc PV271 and D65 Surface Drill Rigs.
  • Proficient computer skills and 1SAP knowledge
  • Strong practical experience in a relevant trade role within the heavy mechanical industry
  • A Minimum of C class manual driver’s license is a requirement for this role

Your technical strengths will be complemented by excellent engagement and communication skills, as well as decision making in pressure situations. Proactive, credible and influential, you relate well with people, communicating confidently and building strong working relationships with key stakeholders

Location

Roles being offered will be based within each of our Newman Operations Sites. Newman, located approximately 1,200kms North-East of Perth Western Australia.

Newman East (Formerly Eastern Ridge) positions offered will be a fly-in fly-out roster of 7 days on, 7 nights on, 7 days off. . The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, squash, tennis and basketball courts, golf driving range, mini golf, netted cricket pitch, beach volleyball court and recreation room. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, internet, refrigerator and air-conditioning.

Newman West (Formerly Mount Whaleback) positions offered will be a residential role based in Newman, Western Australia working on a full time lifestyle roster of 4 shifts on, 5 shifts off, 5 shifts on, 4 shifts off, 5 shifts on 5 shifts off – Dayshift and Nightshift. As this is a residential position, relocation assistance will be provided. You will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
