About the role

An outstanding opportunity exists for an influential and collaborative leader to become part of our Minerals Australia Projects team. Reporting to the Head of Program Management Office (PMO), this is an exciting opportunity to provide support to the Minerals Australia Projects leadership team and their teams through the timely provision of assurance related information and assessments. You’ll be responsible for the management, improvement and monitoring of assurance activities for Minerals Australia Projects.

This role operates with a high level of independence and decision making while developing effective partnerships with your stakeholders. It operates at a national level and can be based in any of our capital cities of Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth.

In this role you will:
  • Developing, coaching and leading an engaged, high performing, motivated and cohesive team;
  • Manage, lead, coaches and mentor team members to ensure delivery against performance targets;
  • Co-ordinate various functions, including cross-functional resources to deliver on the project functions assurance plan;
  • Co-ordination and training of allocated project team and functional representatives including execution teams, technical services, supply and operations readiness,
  • Monitors application of the project standards/procedures and BHP Group Level Documents;
  • Coordinates the collation and reporting on assurance matters across Minerals Australia Projects Portfolio;
  • Leads in the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives, including programmatic opportunities to increased capital efficiency and productivity in the sub-function;
  • Manage and leads the identification, assessment and quantification of project assurance requirements;
  • Support the Minerals Australia Projects Leadership Team and champion selected assurance initiatives, provide recommendations, advice, and guidance as required;
  • Proactively influence and participate in a global assurance agenda; and
  • Managing relationships proactively through building positive engagement with projects and other stakeholders.

About You

You have a sound working knowledge of assurance theory with the ability to apply them in range of business settings and scenarios. Your engagement style and ability to collaborate effectively with a number of stakeholders will be key to your success. It is critical that you are a strategic thinker and possess good project management acumen to deliver business results. Your relationship, negotiation and influencing building skills will be a key strength as you are able to manage various relationships in a challenging and complex environment.

As a leader you will be able to positively impact teams and promote and engage a diverse and inclusive workforce. A degree in engineering, finance, business, risk, assurance or similar is required and project management understanding desirable.
