About the role

This position will be responsible for the team of completion and subsea engineers in our offshore Trinidad & Tobago operations and will supervises the design and planning of well completions and preparation of cost estimates and completion programs for the development. The Completion Engineering Manager is accountable for delivery of engineering work, completion designs, and well integrity from the team. This position also manages the interface of the completion engineering team with the drilling team, WPT and functions.  The position will be based in Port of Spain Trinidad and Tobago and will be a grade 13 role.In this role you will:Core:

  • Process and technical improvements
  • Solid understanding of WSD risks and implementation of the Risk Management process.

  • Responsible for team contribution in well containment source control.
Engineering
Supervises team in preparation of:
  • Completion designs which conform to BOCD or BOWI.
  • Post-well reviews
  • Tubular stress analysis and design, completion architecture and stimulation design.
  • Time and cost estimates for input into the AFE
  • New completion tool technology evaluations and recommendations
  • Ensures that completion designs and programs are peer reviewed in accordance with BHP WSD Standards.
  • Reviews and approves completion design and programs.
Operations:
  • Primary point of contact with Supply to work with other CEMs to ensure that inventory is managed to ensure sufficient equipment availability while minimizing excess.
  • Works with service companies to ensure compliance with contracts
  • Ensure that service company Performance Reviews are conducted per schedule.
  • Ensure that AARs and Lessons Learned are captured and implemented in future completion programs.
  • Encourage personnel and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices
  • Ensures retention of critical well records (CEL, tallies, trip sheets, etc.)
Responsible for team:
  • Supporting operations on a daily basis, ensuring program is followed, and anticipating potential problems
  • Evaluating requirements for program changes and raising MOCs as required
  • Identifying potential problems and preparing contingency programs as required
  • Making recommendations on improvement opportunities
  • Well handover process.
Costs:
Supervises team in:
  • Preparation of accurate well time and cost estimates for well and long lead AFE generation
  • Preparing completion cost estimates for 5 year plan and 2 year budget
  • Tracking costs during operations
  • Proposing cost reduction initiatives and drives savings
  • Reconciling AFE vs final tracked costs, investigating variances, and updating cost model as required
  • Raising requisitions and approving invoices in a timely manner.
Supply:
  • Work with Head of Completions Engineering, Supply and other Completion Engineering Managers to ensure sufficient equipment inventory for area of responsibility while minimizing excess.
  • Serve as contract owner as assigned.
  • Supervise engineers in contract ownership as assigned.
  • Supervise Engineers in preparation of scope of work for tender documents and subsequent evaluation.
Quality Assurance:
  • Reviews quality plans for completion materials and services prior to management signoff.
  • Supervises team in managing and closing out FIRs for area of responsibility.
Risk:
  • Ensures that Well Risk assessments for completions are carried out for wells in area of responsibility.
  • Ensures that all MOCs for area of responsibility have the appropriate risk assessment (including barrier assessments if applicable) and are input into the eQIP tool for approval and distribution.
  • Serves as a Material Risk Owner and ensure adequate control for assigned Material Risks.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental:
  • Familiar with BHP HSE standards.
  • Participate in ICAM and other incident investigations as assigned.
  • Participate in Field Safety Leadership program.
Regulatory and Joint Venture:
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements for area of responsibility and ensures compliance.
  • Reviews permit applications for accuracy prior to being submitted. 
  • Liaises with JVP's on planning and operations.
