About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced People Leader and subject matter expert in the field of Land access and approvals to fulfil a critical Manager position based in our Perth city location.
Reporting to the Head of Studies and Access you will play a vital role in leading the teams responsible for ongoing license to operate, including oversight, planning and delivery of approvals and tenure programs, spatial databases, agricultural land management and access negotiations.
Key responsibilities will include work across the following areas:
  • Develop and lead the approvals masterplan: Plan and coordinate critical approvals in LOA and 5YP; Studies and Projects; and day to day business requirements
  • Maintain tenure: Maintaining good standing of our tenure and State Agreements, and secure additional ground as available; Leverage rights to protect against third party interference.
  • Secure access agreements: representing Asset in commercial negotiations with third parties
  • Manage agricultural lands: ensure sustainability of agricultural activities on asset owned land; manage related third party commercial agreements and local issues
  • Spatial data: lead a team of spatial data experts that prepare applications and maps to support regulatory processes and ensure the quality of existing and new data across spatial platforms
You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - ‘City Square’. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, state of the art facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues.

About You

You will have Qualifications in science, engineering, law or commerce or a related discipline with a minimum of ten years management experience in approvals, tenements, lands or related fields.
To be successful in this role, you will also have the following:
  • Demonstrable experience developing strategies and executing plans to secure approvals, tenements and / or land in iron ore mining or similar commodities / industries
  • Understanding of Western Australian and Federal  legislation relating to iron ore mining or similar jurisdictions / commodities
  • Significant experience working in and managing multi discipline, business wide teams
  • Solid experience with business planning, studies and project development processes
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build relationships
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high performing teams
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial literacy
  • Highly developed analytical, problem solving and decision making ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
